A few weeks ago a friend from church said she had something for me in her car. I followed her out, and she gave me a box of baking soda for cat litter odor control. Somehow it had ended up in her bags at the store and she had paid for it but had no indoor cats, so she thought of me. I don’t use the product, but I thought I could pass it on to other friends. Little did I know….
My tomcat, Young Man, has been having some digestive issues, to put it delicately. He’s older than the other two cats and the sudden changing of food formulas has wreaked havoc with his digestive system. I have been praying that his substantial weight loss was not some terrible and expensive disease because I love the fur ball and money is tight.
God provided a way for me to take him to the vet, and I spent a day or so continuing to pray and trying not to think the worst. After some stressful moments for me and Young Man, we arrived at the vet’s office and waited what seemed like an eternity, but was actually only 15 minutes, to find out his tests results were all good. The vet reassured me that it was just inflammation caused by too much changing of food and that he was very healthy otherwise. I was relieved to finally know what the problem was and how to correct it. It was one less worry to carry around.
In the meantime, the baking soda has mitigated some of the other issues, such as smelly cat syndrome, caused by the condition. So, God not only answered my prayer about his health and the funds to find out, but he also provided a way to deal with the consequences. A bad smell is a small thing but God answered my need even before I knew I was going to have it.
In Luke 12:6-7, it says: “6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows” (KJV).
God cares about even the little things in our lives and is working on our behalf. Sometimes we receive it before we know we need it, and sometimes we receive it in what seems like the twelfth hour, but God always moves at just the right time. He is, as the song below says, an “On Time God”:
