I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
C. S. Lewis
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13
Ever plugged too many things into the same outlet? At best you blow a fuse. At worst you have a Clark Griswold National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation moment. The problem is that the outlet or fuse was never meant to handle that much current at one time. So, you have to be careful when choosing your power source as well as how you plug into that power. What’s your power source?
The Source of the Problem
A few weeks ago I commented that I felt like I was constantly dragging. I received several suggestions about getting more sleep or exercise. It was confusing because I had been reorganizing my schedule to do just that, but nothing seemed to help the desire to take a nap. My joints were doing better, my TMJ and neck pain had improved, and the rising anxiety had receded. Yet, I was still tired. I was also having muscle cramps in my leg and fighting random itchy skin. A quick internet search on itchy skin finally put me on track to the source of the issue.
The search suggested Vitamin D-3 deficiency as a possible source of itching. Then I remembered a few years ago when I had many of the same symptoms, only more pronounced, and was diagnosed with a severe D-3 deficiency. The next day I did some yard work and got some sun, which is the best source of D-3. My energy level surged upward and the itching significantly reduced just from thirty to forty-five minutes of sun exposure. I had found the source of the problem.
We can also have similar symptoms in our Christian walk. We lose energy and focus. We get distracted by things that itch our spirit. We are dragging spiritually. The diagnosis of these symptoms is much easier to identify: we are son deficient. We need exposure to the Son in order to not just reduce the symptoms, but to heal us completely.
The Source of Power
For my health issues, the answer was sun exposure. The sun has the power to recharge my D-3 deficiency, an instant refill. I just have to intentionally get some time in the sun, just like I have to remember to plug my cell phone into the outlet to recharge the battery.
To get a spiritual recharge, the prescription is the same: exposure to the Son. In order to refill spiritually we have to intentionally get some time with the Son through prayer, Bible reading, and worship. Through our relationship we plug into the greatest power in the universe. It’s an endless source of energy and renewal that is open 24 hours a day and free to all comers.
The Source of Prevention
So, to keep my physical body moving and healthy I need some time in the sun on a regular basis. The same goes for Son exposure. The best way to achieve both of these goals is making it a habit through regularly scheduled practice. A little daily exposure plus at least one day of longer exposure is the best prescription for healthy living. This means daily devotions and weekly worship. Unlike sun exposure, you can never get too much Son exposure. There are no negative effects like sunburns or heat exhaustion. Plus, your spirit gets a lovely, healthy glow.
So enjoy a little Heavenly Sunlight:

Love this post Ms. Linda. My primary life verse (it seems I keep adding to them) is Philippians 4:13. Remembering that helps me get through the day ma’am. Praying it does you also ma’am.
Nice job! Love the concept. Enjoyed reading.
